About program

This is a two-year full-time Post Graduate degree in Commerce, under semester  pattern. This course is for the non-autonomous colleges affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. This course enables the students to pursue research programmes, professional courses and to become an entrepreneur. The curriculum is designed to suit the current changes in the environment in industry and commerce.

Eligibility for admission

A candidate who has passed any one of the following degree of this University or any  other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefore, will be eligible for admission to M.Com., General Degree course. B.Com.,    B.Com., (E Commerce),   B.Com., (CA),  B.Com., (CS),   B.Com., (PA),   B.B.A., B.Com., (Honors),   B.Com., (Banking & Insurance) any other degree with Accounting, Costing and Banking as allied/ancillary subject.

Future Scope after higher studies

1. Academic Careers:

   • Lecturer/Professor: After completing M.Com, pursue NET/SET exams or a Ph.D. to work as a lecturer or professor in universities and colleges.
   • Researcher: Engage in academic or financial research, contributing to journals or working in research institutes.

2. Chartered Accountancy (CA):

   • M.Com graduates can pursue CA for a prestigious career in auditing, taxation, accounting, and financial analysis, working for top auditing firms or as independent practitioners.

3. Company Secretary (CS):

   • Combine M.Com with a CS qualification to specialize in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and company governance, holding key roles in corporate boards.

4. Banking & Finance:

   • M.Com graduates can pursue roles in commercial banks, investment banking, wealth management, or financial planning with banks like SBI, HDFC, and multinational firms.
   • Exams like IBPS, SBI PO, and RBI Grade B lead to prestigious roles in public and private banking.

5. Cost and Management Accounting (CMA):

   • Specialize in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial control with a CMA certification, working in industries and businesses that need cost efficiency and financial planning.

6. Tax Consultant:

   • With an M.Com in Taxation, work as a tax advisor or tax consultant, assisting individuals and businesses with tax planning, filing, and regulatory compliance.

7. Financial Analyst/Planner:

   • Work as a financial analyst, investment banker, or portfolio manager for financial institutions, stock markets, or multinational companies.

8. Public Sector Jobs:

    • Prepare for UPSC, Indian Economic Services (IES), or other competitive exams to work in government roles related to economic policy, finance, and public administration.

15. Auditing & Compliance:
