Dr. C. Gopi did his Bachelors and Masters in Botany under the University of Madras at Pachaiyappa College, Chennai from 1992 to 1997, and then did his PhD research (under the University of Madras) at the Sri AMM Murugappa Chettiar Research Centre, Tharamani, Chennai during 1999-2002. Later he worked as Production Manager at SPIC Agro Biotech Center, Coimbatore from 2003 to 2004 and then worked as Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology, K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode from 2004 to 2007. Then, from 15th February 2007 till now he has been working as Head & Associate Professor, Department of Botany Cardamom Planters' College, Bodinayaknur. Botany is taught to the students as an Allied subjects to first year and second year undergraduate chemistry students. He has more than 20 years of experience as a teacher and more than 25 years of research experience and is a leading researcher in the field of medicinal plant biotechnology, plant tissue culture and secondary metabolites. He has to his credit with Citations 802 (including h-index 8 and i10-index 8) of publishing 15 research papers including 10 in International and National Journals 30 papers in International and National Conferences. One Ph.D. degrees and Three M.Phil degree have been awarded under his guidance. Dr. C.Gopi completed FOUR research projects and THREE training programms have been completed at an estimated cost of around 10 lakh 15 thousand rupees through the financial contribution of government funding agencies. TNSCST Sponsored TWO-Student Research Projects (Funding amount Rs. 10000.00), One-Young Student Scientist Programme (YSSP) (15 days residential) (Funding amount Rs. 300000.00). TWO - three days training programme on “Poultry Farming” (Funding amount Rs. 450000.00) and THREE – three days training programme on “Household Hygienic Products” (Funding amount Rs. 150000.00) ” Under the “Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribal Cell” TNSCST & DST funded by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai and One-Minor Research Projects (MRP) (Funding amount Rs. 105000.00) funded by SERO, University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Through above training camps, two training manuals, one on methods of making household hygiene products and the other on methods of poultry farming, have been compiled and published by him. He is also serves as a member (2023-2026) of the University's Senate, Academy Council & university examination committee and the Chairman of Botany board of university central valuation and Member of the Board of studies in Botany, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai.
