2021-20 BOTANY-ECO-CLUB: GREEN CHAMPION

One District-One Green Champion Award by MGNCRE C.P.A. COLLEGE DISTRICT GREEN CHAMPION -THENI DISTRICT Cardamom Planters’ Association College (C.P.A.College) Bodinayakanur have been conferred with the prestigious “One District One Green Champion” award by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Union Ministry of Education, under the Swachhta Action Plan 2020-21. The awards, given to only one institution per district, were announced on the occasion of Earth Day. Nearly one thousand higher educational institutions participated in the ‘One District One Green Champion’ Awards organized by MGNCRE. The college has carved out a niche as the Green Champion of the district Theni. Theni District Collector K.V.Muralitharan handed over the award to College President Sri.S.V.Subramanian in the presence of Secretary Sri. S. Ramanathan, Principal Dr. S. Sivakumar, Vice Principal S.Balamurugan and Green-Club & UBA Coordinator Dr. C. Gopi for setting up the College Swchhta Project Committee and implementing best practices in sanitation, sanitary waste management, water management, energy management and green management in the college and in the UBA adopted villages of Kurangani, Kottagudi, Munthal, Solaiyur and Karattupatti of the district. MGNCRE, as part of its Swachhta Action Plan, has been associated with the college earlier and Chief Project Coordinator Naveen Kumar hosted the online event in the areas of knowledge sharing, namely, Swachhta in Campus, Campus Jal Shakti (Water Conservation in the Campus), and Campus Post- Covid 19 Sanitation Plan in the college and which was attended by the Principals and professors of higher education institutions in Theni district. Congratulating the students and the staff, Principal Dr. S. Sivakumar said that the award acknowledges and promotes successful endeavours and Eco-friendly initiatives of the college focused on sustainable development of the nation. He added that the college has always mobilized resources for various pro-environment programmes, such as cleanliness and plantation campaigns in and around the campus as well as in the adopted villages of the district, and the students are always motivated to exuberantly participate in these programmes. Sri.S.V.Subramanian, president said, “We take pride in contributing our bit in making India clean and Atmanirbhar. The award is a testimony to our commitment towards rending social responsibility with utmost sincerity.” ***************
